Garbage Separation Guide (Tokyo)


🗑️ Garbage Separation Guide (Tokyo)

Please help us keep the neighborhood clean by following the local garbage rules.


🟡 1. Burnable Garbage (燃えるゴミ / Combustibles)

Examples:

  • Food waste

  • Tissues and paper towels

  • Small wood items

  • Leather or rubber products

🛍️ How to dispose:

  • Use designated yellow bags or clear plastic bags.

  • Tie the bag tightly.


🔵 2. Non-Burnable Garbage (燃えないゴミ / Non-Combustibles)

Examples:

  • Glass and ceramics

  • Metal items

  • Small electronics

  • Batteries (remove from devices)

🛍️ How to dispose:

  • Use designated blue bags or clear plastic bags.

  • Wrap sharp items for safety.


♻️ 3. Recyclables (資源ゴミ / Resources)

Separate into the following categories:

  • Cans & Bottles – Rinse before throwing away

  • PET Bottles – Remove cap and label, rinse

  • Glass Bottles – Rinse

  • Paper – Newspapers, magazines, cardboard (tie with string)

📦 How to dispose:

  • Use designated collection area or boxes

  • Don’t mix with regular trash


🔴 4. Oversized Garbage (粗大ごみ / Bulky Waste)

  • Requires advance reservation!

    If you have any large items to throw away (e.g. suitcases, furniture, electronics):
    ➡️ Please contact the host in advance.
    Bulky items cannot be disposed of like regular garbage and require special handling.



🧹 When the Garbage Bin is Full

If the indoor garbage bin is full:
➡️ Please move the trash bag to the back entrance area.
📩 After placing the bag, please send us a message.

📆 If possible, we appreciate it if you can do this onTuesdays and Fridays.


🏠 Nana House Ekoda

If the indoor garbage bin is full:
➡️ Please move the trash bag to the large outdoor garbage bin in the garden.
